Opportunity for blood services in EU to attract new donors!
THE IDEA/ CAMPAIGN

For the past two years, Sanquin (the blood service in the Netherlands) has collaborated with Riot Games (the publisher of League of Legends) to raise awareness for blood donation and attract new (young) donors in a never been done before way. This year, we can offer other blood services the opportunity to get involved as well.
The Dutch Sanquin campaign was extremely successful.
In the Netherlands, over 7.400 people registered as a donor.
For over 3 months, blood was the talk of the town in all media.

ABOUT LEAGUE OF LEGENDS
League of Legends is one of the world’s biggest games. Over 100 million people play this game every month. It’s a strategy fantasy game. The first action in the game – compare it to the first goal in soccer – is called: First Blood. The Dutch blood service claimed this action in game, activated First Blood in real life, and rewarded every new blood donor with an in-game skin (a popular cosmetic item for a game character).

Our goal is to create a big and impactful campaign that spans Europe and the United States. The campaign will be based on the successful formula used in the Netherlands. This campaign is a unique opportunity for your blood bank to become part of the favorite activity of millennials.
And offers the possibility to generate awareness for blood donation and to attract young blood donors.
TIMINGS
The League of Legends 2020 Summer Playoffs will start this summer. Millions of young people worldwide follow these battles that ends with finals in Augusts and September.
A unique opportunity to make the local youth aware of the importance of blood donation through their favorite pastime.
